Program Description

The Problem:

Skyrocketing energy costs cause financial burdens to low-income households. Families are often faced with choosing between food, medicine, keeping warm, or other necessities.

Our Solution:

Provide financial assistance to eligible, low-income families to meet the high costs of home energy and utility expenses as well as offer assistance to acquire the tools they need to become more energy efficient.

How We Do it:

HEAP provides direct financial assistance to low-income Nassau County residents who need help paying their heating and utility bills. Families must complete an application, submit required documentation, and be interviewed to determine eligibility. Once enrolled, participants may also receive assistance to repair or replace inoperable heating systems.

WRAP provides weatherization services to reduce heating costs and make homes more energy efficient. An energy audit is conducted on all homes to determine what services are needed to address issues related to social, health, or safety problems, such as insulation and caulking of windows and doors, window repair, door replacement, heating system repair, or wrapping of pipes and water heaters.
